Elizabeth Victoria Staley (Liz), 93, passed away peacefully in her Indianapolis home on Saturday, April 16, 2016, surrounded by loving family members. Services will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2016, at Faith Church, 9125 College Avenue, Indianapolis. Public calling is at 1:00, and the funeral service will be at 2:00. Burial service will follow immediately at Oaklawn Gardens in Indianapolis.
Born to Merle and Clara (Astle) Needham on May 6, 1922, in Amelia, North Dakota, Elizabeth spent her formative years during the Great Depression in Wahpeton, North Dakota. Working her way through “Science School,” Elizabeth married her college sweetheart and the love of her life, Robert S. Staley (Bob), on November 28, 1943. A World War II bride, Elizabeth worked as a secretary while Bob served in the Army Air Corps as a radio operator/waist gunner. Upon Bob’s retirement from military service, he and Liz moved to Seattle, Washington, where they were faithful servants at King’s Garden Schools. Elizabeth frequently reminisced about the King’s Garden days, telling stories about the joys of a more simple life and the many friends they made during that time. It was there that they raised their family of four children. In June of 1964 they moved to Indianapolis, where Bob took a job at Best Lock Corporation and they lived out their lives together. Elizabeth worked as an office administrator at Anderson Accounting until her retirement in 1986. Together with her husband, Elizabeth was a long-time member of Faith Church in Indianapolis.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband, Robert S. Staley; sister, Eleanor (Needham) Kile; son, Collin M. Staley; and daughter, Vicki Beth (Staley) Hannan. She is survived by her sister, Cebella (Needham) Beach; sons, Robert S. (Steve) Staley II (wife Constance) and Clair M. Staley (wife Kimberly); daughters-in-law, Kathy Staley and Judy Staley; and son-in-law, Victor Hannan. Grandma Liz (GG) is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Dearly loved and missed by all who knew her, Elizabeth was a generous woman of great grace and love. With faith and hope in Jesus Christ and His promise of salvation, she and her husband, Bob, were living monuments of Elizabeth’s favorite scripture verse, “All I have comes from God and I give it out of His hand.” During the last year of her life, following a diagnosis of cancer, Elizabeth included another favorite to her list of Scripture verses to which she held tightly, all the way through to her last breath, “The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms.”
In lieu of flowers, Elizabeth asked that memorial contributions be made to the following:

Lid says
I am so sorry to hear of the death of Elizabeth. The passing away of a loved one is always with much sorrow. May we have faith and confidence in the Bible’s promise of a time when pain, sickness and death are a thing of the past (Revelation 21:3, 4). My condolences are with the family at this difficult time. For more information on the Bible’s promises for the future, please visit jw.org.
